Brightness uniformity with a pinch of separate brightness levels
Optimum brightness uniformity is ensured by the Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) function: optimum is hard to attain due to characteristics of LCD monitors. This is a well-known problem that displays can face, resulting from poor quality control or as a consequence of thinner and bezel-less design (source).
Eye fatigue can be minimized by decreasing some area’s brightness. The Hybrid Gamma function automatically differentiates medical images (that need high brightness), from the non-medical areas. For non-medical areas such as tool palette, this function automatically decreases its brightness, leading to less eye fatigue.
It is also worth noting that the RadiForce GX240 includes a patented drift correction function that quickly stabilizes the brightness level when using the monitor. Additionally, a sensor measures the backlight brightness and compensates for brightness fluctuations caused by aging and the ambient temperature.
Calibration software and front sensor included
EIZO bundled the monitor with a quality control software called RadiCS LE and a built-in Integrated Front Sensor (IFS) to simplify calibration compliant with the DICOM Part 14 standard. The software helps correct the brightness and grayscale tones, ensuring the most accurate and consistent shadings possible over time.
The IFS is enclosed in the front bezel. It measures brightness and grayscale tones without having to connect and disconnect a sensor and does not even interfere with the viewing area. You can continue using the monitor while calibration is performed, saving on maintenance costs. EIZO’s goal was to simplify the calibration process to comply with DICOM Part 14 standards, and this software + sensor combo perfectly serves this purpose.
EIZO is very confident about its product quality and decided to include brightness stability in the list of covered aspects by the warranty.
A new generation of monitors build around sustainability requirements
Thanks to energy-efficient LED as a backlight, the RadiForce GX240 can achieve both high brightness and low power consumption at the same time. LED backlights offer a longer service life to the monitor because they deteriorate slower than conventional CCFL backlights. At the end of service life, the presence of LED backlights reduces any potential on the environment because they are mercury-free.
The monitor can also detect when the user is away thanks to a presence sensor: it automatically switches to power save mode. When the user returns, it resumes its operation.
An ergonomic monitor
From the monitor’s front panel buttons you can easily switch between various imaging modes of different modalities such as CR, CT, and endoscope images. You can also decide to use the auto mode settings, called Auto CAL Switch function.
EIZO’s stand offers tilt, swivel, and a wide height adjustment range to ensure optimum comfort.
