The Sony UP-991AD is a black-and-white hybrid graphic printer that supports both analog and digital applications, which is useful as imaging systems move from analog to digital technology. It has an analog video input and a USB 2.0 high-speed interface for digital printing.
The UP-991AD prints at 325 dpi with a print time of about 8 seconds, and it can also use blue thermal media to produce film-like transparencies. Sony's IMAGEPORT interface provides "PRINT, STORE and GO" capability: users can print an image or store it on a USB drive and transfer it to a laptop. The UP-991AD is suited to black-and-white analog and digital applications such as ultrasound, mobile C-arm and the cardiac cath lab.
