The Sony UP-X899MD is an A6 black-and-white hybrid printer for medical use, built for ultrasound, endoscopy and other medical imaging workflows. Sony presents it as the successor to the UP-X898MD: it keeps the compact hybrid design and adds faster print speeds, sharper image accuracy and a redesigned control panel.
Like the UP-X898MD, it accepts both analog video (BNC) and digital USB connections, so it fits into existing ultrasound carts and imaging systems without a workflow overhaul. A Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Type-C port lets technicians save printed still images automatically to a connected USB flash drive, with no separate capture step.
The front panel has a white backlit LCD, flat control buttons and a joystick for faster menu navigation, and the internal cutter trims prints upward or downward, which helps when the printer is installed below the ultrasound console. The UP-X899MD is lighter and more power-efficient than the UP-X898MD.
